Panda Software’s weekly report looks at the Spamta.PV worm, the Trj/peSky.A Trojan and Adware/MalwareAlarm. 

Spamta.PV is a worm that connects to a web page to download updates of itself. Also, it drops several files onto the target computer. These files are components of the worm. Spamta.PV spreads by emal in a message with variable characteristics and an attached file. It is difficult to know if your computer has been infected by Spamta.PV, as it does not show any messages or warnings that alert to its presence on the system.

Trj/peSky.A is a keylogger Trojan that could allow hackers to obtain confidential data from users such as passwords, banking details, etc. peSky.A does not spread automatically using its own means, but reaches computers through a link sent by a worm that spreads through the Skype VoIP program.

Adware/MalwareAlarm is an adware which installs on computers and starts checking the system for malware that is actually false. When the user chooses to disinfect the malware, the programs prompts them to pay a registration fee for the product to clean  their computers. Adware/MalwareAlarm inserts a key in the Windows Registry to ensure it is run at every system start-up.
