Cyprus confirmed just one new COVID-19 case on Sunday, a student who tested positive from 819 samples taken from schools and teaching staff.

The Health Ministry said the new case was found among a total of 1,717 tests carried out on Sunday which brings the total since the outbreak in March to 944.

Cyprus has managed the outbreak with the single case matching the same number as the day before.

Nobody tested positive out of 577 tests carried out on employees at hairdressing salons, barbershops, tattoo studios and restaurants.

The 24 samples taken from Cypriots repatriated also came back negative.

As did 54 tests were carried out on tracing the contacts of already confirmed cases and 41 samples taken from the referral program by GPs and Public Health Clinics.

Three patients were treated at Famagusta General, the COVID-19 referral hospital, while three patients remain intubated in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
