Cyprus issues yellow alert with heavy rainfall, hale (video)

The Cyprus Met Office issued a yellow alert early Tuesday, as the weather changed rapidly by noon with showers and hale in most parts of the country.

The meteorological service said rainfall was unusually high for the season, pouring at a rate of 35 km an hour. This is the second yellow alert in a month.

The mainly westerly winds are expected to intensify early in the afternoon, with temperatures dropping below 25C inland, 22C on the coast and 14C in the mountains.

The weather will remain cloudy into the night, with some rain and temperatures falling to 11C inland, 14C along the coast and 6C in the mountains.
