Cyprus retail sales continue to recover in October

Retail trade volume rose for the fifth straight month in October according to preliminary data, rising by 1.5% compared with the same month of the previous year, having risen by just 0.3% according to revised figures in September.
However, declines recorded in the first half of the year mean that for the period January-October 2010, the retail trade volume is provisionally estimated to have fallen by 0.1% compared with the corresponding period of 2009.
By value, retail trade rose by a provisional 5.5% in October 2010 compared with October 2009, and by 2.6% in the first ten months of the year.
