The Employers and Industrialists Federation, OEV, has hailed the reduction in prices, even if these are due to the sales season, but has slammed the attitude of the association of small shopkeepers, Povek, as “unreasonable reactions” to an early sales period.
OEV said that the reduction in prices in any way is desirable and a totally healthy phenomenon that ultimately benefits the consumer. It said, in an announcement, that after a long period of several months of constant rises, due primarily to external factors, “the time has come that all consumers had been waiting for with a reduction in the prices of consumer goods.”
“It is truly incomprehensible to hear voices of protest just because some stores went ahead and started their discount sales, when until recently everybody, and in particular the government, had been calling for a reduction in prices. We consider the claims by Povek as being unreasonable and totally unrelated to the economic realities of the present time,” the announcement said.
