Ericsson signs IMS contract with TELE Greenland

Ericsson has been chosen by TELE Greenland as Core IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) supplier to deliver integrated fixed and mobile convergent services. Ericsson’s Core IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) will be employed to develop TELE Greenland next-generation offering.

IMS-based services enable communication through various media – such as voice, text, pictures and video, or a combination of them – adapted to each individual’s preference. It also represents the evolution of converged mobile and fixed-control networks to all-IP, bringing significant cost advantages and providing flexibility to support broadband services.

Ericsson is the leader in the IMS area with 46 IMS system contracts for commercial launch and an additional 80 trials, distributed around the world.

Greenland has a geographic area of 2.166.086km2 and the ice free land area is 410.449km2. Distance from north to south is 2.670km. This huge arctic country with 17 cities and 55 settlements scattered across the coast embracing the icecap are served by TELE Greenland. The vision is to provide the 57.000 Greenlandic inhabitants with even and state of the art telecom conditions.Â
