Cyprus trade deficit widens to CYP 1.7 bln in Jan-Jul

The Statistical Service of Cyprus has published the monthly report “Intra-Extra EU Trade Statistics (Summarised Data)” for July 2007.

The main developments in Cyprus foreign trade were as follows.

Total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) in January-July 2007 amounted to CYP 2,042.1 mln compared with CYP 1,877.7 mln in January-July 2006.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states) in January-July 2007 were CYP 385.9 mln compared with CYP 396.7 mln  in January-July 2006.

The trade deficit was CYP 1,656.1 mln  in January-July 2007 compared with CYP 1,481.1 mln  in January-July 2006.

During July 2007 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) valued at CYP 321.1 mln.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states), including stores and provisions, in July 2007 amounted to CYP 49.9 mln.

Εxports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, were CYP 22.9 mln and exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, CYP 27.0 mln.

Meanwhile, on the basis of preliminary estimates for Foreign Trade in August 2007, total imports/ arrivals reached CYP 293.5  mln, of which CYP 197.1  mln  were arrivals from other member states of EU and CYP 96.4  mln  imports from third countries.

Total exports/dispatches were CYP 44.4  mln  of which CYP 29.4  mln  were dispatches to other member states of EU and CYP 15.0  mln  exports to third countries.
