Cyprus trade deficit widens to CYP 395 mln in Jan-Feb

The trade deficit for Cyprus widened CYP 193 mln in February 2007 compared with CYP 181 mln in February 2006, based on preliminary results.

For the first two months as a whole, the trade deficit widened to CYP 395 mln, compared with CYP 369 mln in the same period of 2006.

If the trend continues, then the trade deficit will breach the record CYP 26 bln posted for the whole of 2006.

Total exports/dispatches amounted to CYP 45.3 mln in February, of which CYP 30.0 mln was dispatches to other EU member states and CYP 15.3 mln exports to third countries.

Total imports/ arrivals in February amounted to CYP 238.0 mln, of which CYP 179.0 mln was arrivals from other EU member states CYP 59.0 mln imports from third countries.
