Air Berlin announced that on Saturday, July 7, it concluded a firm order for 25 B787 Dreamliner aircraft, with a value according to Boeing’s list prices of approximately $4 billion, together with 10 option and 15 purchase rights. The 25 aircraft, for which Air Berlin has placed a firm order, are scheduled for delivery between 2013 and 2017. Air Berlin has received a significant discount on its order.

The aircraft can be used in the Air Berlin Group’s fleet renewal program or, alternatively, for additional capacity in the long haul markets. Financing for the aircraft will not be required until approximately 2011, when more significant pre delivery payments become due and Air Berlin will consider a number of options for external funding.

Air Berlin ordinary shares are listed on Frankfurt Stock Exchange (Official Market, Prime Standard) and convertible bonds on the Euro MTF market of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
