Proper procedures can ensure smooth progress of foreclosures

A seminar hosted by leading Cyprus law firm Harris Kyriakides explored key legal developments, including the new civil procedure rules introduced two years ago, applications related to the foreclosure of mortgaged properties, and asset recovery proceedings.

The seminar, titled “Latest Developments in Banking Litigation”, was held on June 26 at the MAP Hotel in Nicosia.

It was organised for the third consecutive year by the banking department of Harris Kyriakides, one of the largest law firms in Cyprus with over 45 years of professional success, and has been established as a leading annual event for professionals in the legal and banking sectors in Cyprus.

Nikolas Kyriakides, partner at at the firm, addressed practical issues arising during the nearly two years of implementation of the new civil procedure rules.

Georgia Athanasiou, partner and Head of the Banking Department, focused on practical matters and recent court decisions concerning applications and appeals, limited grant applications, and applications for substituted service, emphasising the importance of proper procedures to ensure the smooth progress of foreclosures.

Among the other speakers, Elena Kapfhammer and Tonis Kyriakides also discussed property management matters and practical solutions for the recovery of possession.
