Unemployment up year on year

The number unemployed persons registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of April 2005 decreased by 1,376 compared with March 2005 and reached 11,134 persons or 3,2 % of the labour force.

The decrease from the previous month was mainly recorded in the sector of hotels and restaurants.

In comparison with April 2004, however, an increase of 941 unemployed persons was recorded, which was mainly observed in the sectors of construction, public administration and trade while a decrease of 368 persons was observed in the sector of hotels and restaurants.
