Cyprus economy growth rate accelerated

Cyprus' economy growth rate for the third consecutive quarter is being accelerated, according to the updated figures released on Friday by Eurostat.

The statistical office of the European Union reviews for the better the previous estimate of November for Cyprus.

In the third quarter of 2010, the GDP of Cyprus increased by 0.6% compared with the second quarter.

In the eurozone, the average increase was 0.3%, in EU was 0.5%, while in Greece the GDP fell by 1.3%.

On an annual basis, namely the third quarter of 2010 compared to the same period in 2009, GDP increased in Cyprus by 1.6% (the previous estimate was 1.5%).

In EU GDP increased by2.2%, in the euro zone by 1.9%, while in Greece it fell by 4.6%.

Quarterly GDP growth (third quarter of 2010 compared with the second quarter of 2010) was in each country in the euro zone as follows: Cyprus +0,6, Greece -1.3%, Belgium 0.4%, Germany + 0.7% Spain 0.0% France +0.3% Italy +0.3%, Netherlands 0.0%, Austria +0.9%, Portugal +0.3%, Slovakia +1.0 % Finland +0.5%, Slovenia +0.3%, Malta +0.5%, Luxembourg+1.5% , Ireland +0.5%.

The annual GDP growth (third quarter of 2010 compared to the same period of 2009) was in each country of the Eurozone as follows: Cyprus +1.6%, Greece-4.6%, Belgium +2.0%, Germany +3.9% Spain +0.2% France +1.7%, Italy +1.1% Netherlands+1.9%, Austria +2.5%, Portugal +1.4%, Slovakia + 4.2% Finland +3.5%, Slovenia +1.3%.
