Ryanair announced today the launch of its second flight to Larnaca from Barcelona (Girona), which will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays.

To celebrate, Ryanair released 1million seats at 6 euro for travel across its European network in January and February, which are available for booking until midnight Thursday (2nd December) on www.ryanair.com

Speaking today, Ryanair’s Melisa Corrigan said “we are pleased to celebrate the launch of our second route to Larnaca. Ryanair will continue to grow as other airlines pull routes and reduce capacity whilst incurring significant losses”.

“With passengers becoming increasingly price sensitive, travelers to Cyprus can now take advantage of Ryanair’s guaranteed lowest fares and no fuel surcharges”.

According to Corrigan Ryanair’s Cyprus routes will deliver 60,000 passengers per year at Larnaca and sustain 60 local jobs.

Hermes Airport’s Chief Executive Officer Alfred van der Meer welcomed today’s launch by Ryanair of the first scheduled flights from Spain to Cyprus.

“With temperatures plunging and snow beginning to fall across Europe, thousands more visitors will now have the opportunity to discover Cyprus’ year round sunshine and warm winter weather via direct low cost air service”, he said.

Ryanair maintains 43 bases around the world and low fare routes across 27 countries, connecting 160 destinations.

It operates a fleet of 258 new Boeing 737-800 aircraft with firm orders for a further 56 new aircraft (before taking account of planned disposals), which will be delivered over the next 2 years.

Ryanair currently has a team of more than 8,000 people and expects to carry approximately 73.5 million passengers in the current fiscal year.
