University of Cyprus professor re-elected EAEC Chairman

University of Cyprus Director of Research International and Public Relations professor Gregoris Makrides has been re-elected Chairman of the European Association of ERASMUS Coordinators (EAEC) for 2009-2011, in the framework of the ERASMUS European Congress ERACON2009. 

The EAEC was established in 2004, and Makrides, who was one of its founders, has been elected since as its Chairman unanimously.

The purposes of the Association are to enable an information and experience exchange by the European Erasmus Programme Coordinators, to promote mobility of students and research personnel in the territory of the European Union, to circulate provisions of the Bologna Process and its updates in academic circles and to promote principles and participation in the LLP European Commission Programme.

The Association also aims to support the process of raising education standards and quality in the territory of the European Union, organise seminars and conferences, with an assumption of enabling direct communication among the Association members and defining new areas of the Association activity, prepare proposals of utilization of European Commission's funds, cooperate as a partner in European projects and produce publications of interest to the members.

This year's congress took place on April 29-May 3 and was attended by 400 delegates from approximately 300 universities from almost all European countries.
