Cyprus trade deficit widens in Jan-Nov 07

The Statistical Service Cystat has announced that the trade deficit was CYP 2,788.0 mln in January-November 2007 compared with CYP 2,369.6 mln in January-November 2006.

Total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) in January-November 2007 amounted to CYP 3,376.4 mln compared with CYP 2,967.3 mln in January-November 2006.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states) in January-November 2007 were CYP 588.4 mln compared with CYP 597.7 mln in January-November 2006.

 

November results

 

For November alone, total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) valued at CYP 336.1 mln.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states), including stores and provisions, in November 2007 amounted to CYP 51.6 mln.

Εxports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, were CYP 23.9 mln whilst exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, were CYP 27.7 mln.

 

Preliminary December

 

Meanwhile, on the basis of preliminary estimates for foreign trade in December 2007, total imports/ arrivals amounted to CYP 296.5 mln, of which CYP 206.9 mln were arrivals from other member states of the EU and CYP 89.6 mln imports from third countries.

Total exports/dispatches were CYP 45.5 mln, of which CYP 30.2 mln were dispatches to other member states of EU and CYP 15.3 mln exports to third countries.
