Hellenic Bank has launched its scholarships programme, branding it “jumpstart” as it aims to financially support students from low income families wanting to study at universities in Cyprus or abroad.

The scheme will support 20 undergraduate students with an annual scholarship of €2,000 for up to four years, as long as the candidate can maintain good grades. The selection criteria include family income and educational attainment.

Hellenic Bank said the programme is a continuation of the scholarships scheme the defunct Co-operative Bank had been running, with the total number of scholars now reaching 80 and those still studying will receive the aid from Hellenic.

Applications can be filled and submitted online at www.jumpstart.hellenicbank.com from October 1 and will close on October 30.

The bank has also uploaded a how-to video, describing the process for new applicants, while ads will feature current students who have already received scholarships in the past.

Speaking at the launch of the ‘jumpstart’ programme, the bank’s chairman Evripides Polycarpou said that the scholarships will support young people with dreams and talent and “we will give them the tools to chase these dreams.”
