Radisson hospitality is to expand its brand of hotels to the island’s capital, as it moves forward with plans to build the Radisson Blu Nicosia, as the company seeks to enhance its presence in Cyprus.

The Radisson Hotel Group has signed a deal with Larnaca’s Quality Group and SunnySeeker Hotels to have six of its branded hotels in Cyprus after the first one opened in Larnaca last year.

The deal envisages the group growing its existing portfolio on the island to six hotels and almost 1,000 rooms by 2025.

It will see the hospitality giant working hand-in-hand with SunnySeeker to develop and deliver new hotels on the holiday island.

The agreement for the Nicosia hotel provides for the construction of an 180-room hotel – 30 of which will be suites – it will also include two restaurants and bars, leisure facilities such as a fitness and wellness centre.

Radisson Blu Nicosia is to be all about business as the hotel will have a conference centre covering an area of 500 sq.m with high tech-equipment to meet the needs of both the local and international business community.

It is to be built on Salamina Avenue, close to the city’s Venetian walls. Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer of the Radisson said the group was excited to expand its collaboration with Quality and Sunnyseeker Hotels in Cyprus.

Savvas Kakos, CEO of Quality Group, said the Radisson Larnaca Beach Resort (formerly the Princess Hotel) is expected to be fully operational in May 2020 as work is underway.

The construction of another business hotel in the capital is expected to enhance competition in the market, as the former Holiday Inn and two other hotels are to re-open, while the Hilton Park has been renovated and the Hilton Nicosia, which has recently been sold to Pangaea-Invel, who have plans to renovate and expand it.
