CYPRUS: Seasonally adjusted GDP +0.5% q-o-q, +2.8% y-o-y

Seasonally adjusted GDP rose 0.5% in the last quarter of 2016 in Cyprus compared to the previous quarter and by 2.8% compared to the same quarter of 2015, according to Eurostat estimates.


 
The same index rose by 0.4% in the euro area (EA19) and by 0.5% in the EU28 during the fourth quarter of 2016, compared with the previous quarter.
Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 1.7% in the euro area and by 1.9% in the EU28 in the fourth quarter of 2016, after +1.8% and +1.9%, respectively, in the previous quarter.
Over the whole year 2016, GDP rose by 1.7% in the euro area and by 1.9% in the EU28, compared with 2.0% and 2.2% respectively in 2015.
Among EU member states for which data are available for the fourth quarter of 2016, Estonia (+1.9%), Poland (+1.7%) and Lithuania (+1.4%) recorded the highest growth compared with the previous quarter, while Greece recorded negative growth (-1.2%) and GDP in Finland remained stable.
