UCy research chief to receive European projects award

The European Projects Association (EPA) will present Dr Gregoris Makrides with the "2014 Award for outstanding achievements in development of the EU through European Projects" during a ceremony to be held in Brussels on October 7.


The announcement was made on the sidelines of the World Research and Innovation Congress in Brussels hosted by the EPA, the International Innovation and Research Media, The Parliament Magazine, The Regional Review, EU Observer and EuropaNews.
Makrides was recognised for his activity and achievements in a number of European projects fro which he worked to secure funding and helped coordinate during the past ten years.
The projects are:
1. EDIPED (2002-2005), development of the European Digital Portfolio for Educators;
2. MATHEU (2003-2006), Identification, Motivation and Support of Mathematical Talents in European Schools;
3. CAREER-EUshop (2008-2010), One-Stop-Service Career Guidance Counseling for Europeans;
4. INENTER (2010-2012), improving the Placements and Internships from Academic to Enterprises;
5. BeConnected (2009-2015), Developing Liaison Offices between Academia and Industry;
6. Le-MATH (2012-2014), Learning Mathematics through new Communication Factors;
7. Cyprus EYEs are open (Cycle 3, 2010-2012), Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs; and,
8. Europe EYEs are open (Cycle 4, 2012-2014), Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs.
