Cyprus has introduced electronic filing (e-filing) for the registration of companies.

Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Antonis Paschalides presented Wednesday the new system of submitting documents for the registration of companies through the internet, the so-called electronic filing.

The Minister said that through e-filing, citizens and companies will be able to view on the internet the companies’ data and submit documents for the registration of companies and any changes needed.

They will also be able to receive in electronic form certificates from the Department of the Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver (D.R.C.O.R.) of the Republic of Cyprus.

The Minister said that the government recognizes the competitive advantages Cyprus has compared to other countries in the region as well as the positive impact of its accession to the EU.

He added that the government has set as one of its primary goals to make Cyprus a high technology service centre in the region and as a hub between Europe and the Middle East.

“It is clear that information technology remains one of the most important strategic partners of the government for the implementation of its goals to address the economic crisis”, he said.

The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomed today the government’s decision to introduce e-filing, saying this will facilitate cooperation between companies and the D.R.C.O.R.
