The official opening of Lidl Cyprus distribution centre took place on 27.09.10 at 19.00 by the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Mr.Antonios Paschalides.
The distribution centre is located on the industrial area of Aradippou II in Larnaca. A location of strategic importance for the supply of all Lidl stores. It, also, applies widely all the new technologies that a contemporary distribution center requires in order to keep abreast of the latest technology and maintain our growth and leading position.
The disclosure of the inauguration plate occurred in a very enthusiastic atmosphere by Mr.Paschalides. Many other political and government officials, the German Ambassador, Mayors, representatives of all media and Lidl Cyprus personnel were there to attend Lidl Cyprus opening.
The Director of Operations of Lidl Cyprus, Ioannis Minakis, gave an official speech, followed by the welcome speech of Mr.Paschalides and the kind greetings of the German Ambassador, Doctor Gottfried Zeitz.
After the inauguration the Minister and other special guests were toured in the distribution centre by Mr.Ioannis Minakis, Mr.Dimitrios Lemonis, Warehouse Manager, and Mrs.Vassiliki Adamidou, PR Manager. Another exclusive tour was arranged for all the representatives of the media. They, also, received a press kit and a bag filled with Lidl products.
The opening of Lidl Cyprus distribution center coincides with the beginning of a new era in modern consumption, extremely beneficial for the final consumer. A great emphasis was given during the Minister’s speech to the great amount of career opportunities Lidl offers.. we’ve already employed 450 people and we provide many more job opportunities to our external cooperators, local suppliers, constructors, real estate companies, and others.
A Lidl bag with samples of our products was given to all our guests that day to get the first “European” taste of our range of products…they all left with the promise to refill those bags on the day of the opening of our stores in all the big cities of Cyprus.
At Lidl, Quality is not expensive AND, high quality is at competitive prices…
