Tourist arrivals in Cyprus drop 10.9% in 2009

Tourist arrivals in 2009, compared to 2008, marked a 10.9% drop, according to the Statistical Service of the Republic.

In numbers, arrivals fell to 2.141.193 in 2009, compared to 2.403.750 in 2008.

According to the results of the Travelers’’ Survey, tourist arrivals in December 2009 dropped by 8.2% 66,201, compared to 72,127 in December of 2008.

A 10.3% drop in arrivals from the UK was registered last December, (26,595 in December 2009 compared to the corresponding period in 2008) and a 7.8% drop from Germany, (6,040 compared to 6,551 in 2008).

On the contrary, arrivals from Greece marked a 3.2% increase (from 11, 031 in December 2008 to 11,381 in December 2009).
