Cyprus wholesale turnover down sharply in Q1

Wholesale trade turnover fell sharply in the first quarter of 2009 according to the latest figures from the Statistical Service Cystat.
The turnover value index of wholesale trade (excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles) decreased by 12.8% in the first quarter of 2009 compared with the corresponding period of 2008.
Similarly, the turnover value index of both wholesale and retail trade including repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles fell by 21.2% in the first quarter of 2009 when compared with the same period of 2008.
As of January 2009, the turnover value Index of wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles has been published with a new base year (2005=100) and using the new version of the statistical classification of economic activities, NACE Rev. 2.
