Based on the Council Regulation N° 389/2006 establishing an instrument of financial support for encouraging the economic development of the Turkish Cypriot community and in line with the objective of contributing to the growth of the private sector and to the diversification of the economy via the promotion of innovation, production capacity modernization, entrepreneurship, business culture and approximation with relevant EU acquis, a 3,400,000 Euro grant programme, called “Programme to Improve the Competitiveness of SMEs and of the ICT sector”, is launched:
This call aims to increase the competitiveness of the Small and middle enterprises, to enhance the competitiveness of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector, to diversify the local economy and to increase job creation.
The priorities of the Call for Proposals are:
– To increase the production capacity and the efficiency of the SME
– To develop the ICT and ICT culture in the community;
– To foster innovation (of products and approaches);
– To contribute to the preparation for the future adoption of the acquis communitaire, in the main fields related to SMEs (i.e of quality of products, environment, health protection and protection at work);
– Integration and reinforcement of economic links between the two communities of Cyprus.
