Cyprus industrial output down 5.1% in March

The index of industrial production for March 2009 is provisionally estimated to have reached 99.5 (base 2005=100), recording a decrease of 5.1% compared to March 2008 according to the Statistical Service.
For manufacturing, the index for March 2009 reached 98.4, recording a decrease of 7.8% compared to March 2008.
For the period January – March 2009, the industrial production index recorded a decrease of 7.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
From January 2009, the index of industrial production has been published with a new base year (2005=100) and using the new version of the statistical classification of economic activities, NACE Rev. 2.
Meanwhile, industrial output prices declined by 0.4% over the previous month in April.
For the period January-April 2009, the index showed an increase of 1.8% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
For manufacturing, the index for April 2009 reached 117.7 units, recording a decrease of 0.6% compared to March 2009.
