A new website unveiled in London will provide an interactive point of reference for anyone seeking information on major political developments affecting Cyprus, UK-Cyprus relations and the activities of British Cypriots.
Launched by the National Federation of Cypriots in the UK, www.cypriotfederation.org.uk went live Wednesday morning.
The new site provides a wealth of information about the Cyprus problem as well as the political and cultural activities of the Cypriot community in the UK. Its interactive capabilities include a supporters’ network, a youth forum focused on engagement with the UK Cypriot diaspora’s new generation and a social networking ‘facebook’ group.
The online resource is also a gateway for media outlets designed to encourage access to a series of short informative videos, pertinent publications and electronic reference documents on subjects ranging from the UK Cypriot Federation’s lobbying and political work to the Memorandum of Understanding recently signed between the Untied Kingdom and the Republic of Cyprus.
Commenting on the launch, Peter Droussiotis, President of the UK Federation, said: “At long last we now have an internet capability which fills a clear gap in online resources for the dissemination of information about the multi-faceted activities of the Cypriot diaspora in the United Kingdom, and which we hope can be used productively by our friends and other communities in Britain, the British and overseas media, young British Cypriots and, of course, our member organisations.
“The website has been designed to be a user-friendly and interactive tool and will be kept up to date so that it can serve its purpose which is to be a key point of reference for all those with an interest in Cyprus and UK Cypriot affairs.”
