Cyprus construction input prices accelerate in early 2008

Input prices for a range of key construction materials accelerated in early 2008, according to figures from the Statistical Service Cystat.

For example, the price of bituminous mixtures rose by 36.8% over the year-earlier period in January-February 2008, compared with an increase of only 6.1% in 2007.

The price of gas oil was 22.4% higher in the first two months of the year than in the first two months 2007.

Crushed gravel was up 12.2%, gravel and sand aggregate was up 11.5% and crushed sand was up 11.0%.

Only the price of bricks and Portland cement was flat compared with the same period of 2007.
