Following last year’s noisy opening of the IKEA store in Nicosia and the successful operations of the Shacolas Group’s DIY Ideal Home Centre, as well as the islandwide expansion of local suppliers such as Ellinas DIY, a new store will open in Limassol next month to cater to the growing retail and professional market.

Hardware importers and suppliers D. Nicolaou and Sons Ltd will open the first Merkur household, electrical appliances and DIY franchise outlet in Limassol on March 1.

The first Merkur D. Nicolaou store is located in Limassol’s busy business and trade area of Zakaki and will stock 20,000 items in a space of 4500sq.m.

Merkur, the Slovenian wholesaler and retailer of technical products, construction material, ferrous products and electrical goods has more than 80 retail and hardware stores in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, FYROM, Germany, Italy and Serbia. It caters to the home consumer as well as to the industrial level construction companies and maintains a 20-50% market share in Slovenia and abroad.

The Merkur D. Nicolaou store will have two departments: MERKURHOME, with ideas and solutions for the house, and MERKURPROFI, with professional and D.I.Y. products. The main focus will be on electrical and small electronic appliances, home equipment, garden furniture, bathroom accessories, decorations, paints and construction materials, timber, tools, screws and fittings.
