Cyprus’ trade deficit expanded in January-November 2007

Cyprus’ trade deficit expanded further during the first eleven months of 2007, according to the Statistical Service (CyStat) latest data, announced.
According to the data, included in the monthly report “Intra-Extra E.U Trade Statistics (Summarised Data)” for November 2007, the trade deficit reached CYP2.788,0 mln in January-November 2007 compared to CYP2.369,6 mln in January-November 2006.
The main developments in Cyprus’ foreign trade were, during the same period, the increase recorded in total imports/arrivals and the decrease of total exports/dispatches.
In particular, total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other EU member states) in January-November 2007 amounted to CYP 3.376,4 mln as compared to CYP 2.967,3 mln in January-November 2006.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other EU member states) in January-November 2007 were CYP 588,4 mln compared to CYP 597,7 mln in January-November 2006.
The trade deficit was CYP 2.788,0 mln in January-November 2007 compared to CYP 2.369,6 mln in January-November 2006.
During November 2007 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other EU member states) valued at CYP 336.1 mln.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other EU member states), including stores and provisions, in November 2007 amounted to CYP 51.6 mln.
Exports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, were CYP23.9 mln whilst exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, were CYP 27.7 mln.
