By supplying highly optimized WCDMA 3G radio network with HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) capability, Nokia Siemens Networks is helping TeliaSonera in Denmark to provide premium quality mobile broadband and mobile internet services.

The recently signed contract includes the delivery of Flexi Base Stations, Radio Network Controllers, the multitechnology, multivendor NetAct network and service management solution, as well as optimization services for high quality and seamless interoperability between 2G and 3G networks. Deliveries for the first phase of the nationwide rollout have started already and initial launch of the 3G services took place 1st of December 2007.

The Nokia Siemens Networks HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) solution empowers premium mobile broadband user experience by a unique combination of excellent HSDPA and HSUPA system performance, seamless interoperability and interworking with TeliaSonera in Denmark’s 2G network and optimized network design. The compactness and modular design of the Nokia Siemens Networks Flexi Base Station enables painless reuse of existing sites and swift acquisition of new sites.

This HSPA solution will enable TeliaSonera in Denmark to significantly reduce costs per megabit delivered over its WCDMA 3G network, while providing true speed for mobile broadband and a solid technology base for future enhancements of HSPA.

Nokia Siemens Networks’ high-performing HSPA can be activated with a simple software upgrade to its existing WCDMA networks thus enabling cost-effective and fast rollout. HSPA enables true mobile broadband with two key technologies, HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) and HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access), enabling data speeds of up to 14 Mbps in the downlink and up to 5.8 Mbps in the uplink and in the future up to 43/11 Mbps.

TeliaSonera is the leading telecoms company in the Nordic and Baltic region, with strong positions within mobile communications in Eurasia, Turkey and Russia. At the end of 2006, it launched mobile services in Spain. It is the leading European provider of quality cross-border voice, IP and capacity services, provided through a wholly-owned international carrier network to a total number of customers exceeding 100 mln in 15 countries.
