Cyprus reelected member of IMO Council

Cyprus secured its participation in the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Council. During the 25th session of IMO’s governing body, the Assembly, Cyprus has been reelected with 115 votes as a Council member, securing the second position behind Singapore with 120 votes.
“Cyprus’ election and the important support it got from other countries signalises its continuous and important contribution in the IMO deliberations since 1987, when it became a member of the Organization”, a press release by the Cypriot representation at the IMO Meeting says.
The IMO Council monitors the deliberations of the Organization for a two-year term between the IMO Assembly’s Meetings.
The 25th Assembly Meeting began last Monday and will be concluded on November 30th.
