European Centre of Excellence at the University of Cyprus

As of this academic year, the University of Cyprus will be hosting a European Centre of Excellence, which aims at promoting research and education in European integration matters.

A University of Cyprus press release says that the European Centre of Excellence, founded as part of the EU Jean Monnet programme, ”will be studying European institutions and policies and promoting national and international cooperation and activities”.

“The ultimate goal of the Centre is to bring citizens closer to EU institutions and functions,” the press release says.

The decision to set up a European Centre of Excellence at the University of Cyprus was taken by the European Commission, following an international competition.

The Centre will function this year in ten more Universities in Italy, Spain, Japan and the US.
