Cyprus trade deficit widens in Jan-April

Total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) in January-April 2007 amounted to CYP 1,105.3 mln, compared with CYP 1.021.9 mln in January-April 2006.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states) in January-April 2007 were CYP 215.6 mln, compared with CYP 236.1 mln in January-April 2006.

The trade deficit widened to CYP 889.8 mln in January-April 2007, compared with CYP 785.8 mln in January-April 2006.

During April 2007 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) valued at CYP 305.2 mln.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states), including stores and provisions, in April 2007 amounted to CYP 52.8 mln.

Εxports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, were CYP 27.2 mln and exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, CYP 25.6 mln.

Meanwhile, on the basis of preliminary estimates for foreign trade in May 2007, total imports/ arrivals were CYP 298.4 mln, of which CYP 209.8 mln were arrivals from other member states of EU and CYP 88.6 mln imports from third countries.

Total exports/dispatches were CYP 59.8 mln of which CYP 44.3 mln were dispatches to other member states of EU and CYP 15.5 mln exports to third countries.
