Cyprus inflation eases in June

Consumer prices rose by 1.9% in June compared with the same month of 2006, down from 2.2% in May.

The consumer price index decreased by 0.22 or 0.21% over the previous month to 104.78, compared with 105.00 in May 2007.

The Statistical Service reported that this was mainly owing to decreases in the prices of certain fresh fruit and vegetables and potatoes.

Increases were recorded in the prices of petroleum products and electricity.

For the period January-June 2007 the CPI recorded an increase of 1.7% over the corresponding period of 2006.
