Baghdatis beats Nalbandian, moves to 4th round at Wimbledon

Cyprus tennis star Marcos Baghdatis, ranked 16th in the world beat Argentina’s  David Nalbandian in the third round of the Wimbledon tournament qualifying game on Monday.

Winning in three straight sets of 6-2, 7-5, 6-0, Baghdatis will now qualify to the fourth round of the tournament and improve his world rankings.

He’ll face the Russian 6th-seeded Nikolay Davydenko or Frenchman Gael Monfils in the fourth round.

In the second round, the 10th-seeded Cypriot player beat French Nicolas Devilder with 3-1 sets and advanced to the third round.

This is the fourth time that Baghdatis and Nalbandian have clashed in international tournaments, the last time being at the Australian Open in Melbourne in 2006 where the Cypriot player won 3-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 to get to the final with world champion Roger Federer.
