Athanasios Orphanides appointed as new Central Bank Governor

Athanasios Orphanides has been appointed Friday by Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus.
He is succeeding Christodoulos Christodoulou whose term in office ends on May 2, 2007.
An official press release said Orphanides will assume his duties as Governor of the Central Bank on May 3, 2007. His tenure will last for five years.
He is now working as a Senior Advisor to the Board of Governors of the US Federal Reserve System.
