Cyprus registered unemployment drops in 2007

The average number of registered unemployed was 12,017 in 2007 compared with 12,824 for 2006, a decrease of 6.3%.

The Statistical Service said that the decrease was mainly recorded in the sectors of manufacturing, construction and trade.

On the last day of December, the number of registered unemployed reached 12,788 compared with 11,891 in November 2007 and 622 in December 2006.

The increase compared with November was mainly recorded in the sectors of public administration and hotels and restaurants, while the increase compared with December 2006 was mainly in the sectors of manufacturing, transport and trade.
