Accounting and legal lead Cyprus services growth

Figures on turnover for the period July-September 2006 show that the category of “Legal, Accounting, Book-keeping, Auditing and other related activities” led the pack in the third quarter, rising by 16.3% compared with the same period of 2005.

This was closely followed by “Architectural, Engineering and other related activities”, which rose by 15.9% on the year-earlier period.

Despite an overall fall in the number of tourist arrivals, the category of “Hotels and Restaurants” managed to scrape a rise of 3.2%.

 

Telecommunications are still booming

 

On the same day the Statistical Service released statistics on the turnover indices for various branches of transport and communications activity in the period January-September 2006.

The strongest growth was in telecommunication, where turnover value increased by 7.0% in Jan-Sep 2006, compared to the corresponding period of 2005.

Air Transport increased by 3.7%, while water transport fell by 1.7% and land transport fell by 1.0%.
