Left-wing AKEL party and Turkish Cypriot Republican Turkish Party (CTP) are set to meet early January, AKEL’s Parliamentary Spokesman Nicos Katsourides has said.
Katsourides along with AKEL’s General Secretary Demetris Christofias attended tonight a reception, hosted by CTP’s leader Ferdi Sabit Soyer in the occupied part of Nicosia, to mark the 36th anniversary since CTP’s establishment.
During the reception, Christofias had a brief meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader and former CTP leader Mehmet Ali Talat in the presence of Katsourides.
”During the meeting both sides expressed their willingness and their intention for a solution to the Cyprus problem,” Katsourides told CNA.
”During the reception a meeting between the leadership of the two parties, under their leaders Christofias and Soyer, in the first ten days of January was agreed,” Katsourides added.
