Laiki Bank Group Chairman Kikis Lazarides inaugurated the bank’s new head office at Laiki House in Sydney during a ceremony last week attended by Cyprus Culture and Education Minister Pefkios Georgiades, officials from the Australian federal government, diplomats and business people.

Also among the dignitaries was Archbishop Stylianos of Australia who presided over the blessing ceremony.

Chairman Lazarides said that the bank has come a long way ever since its first presence in Australia 20 years ago and the operation of the first branch five years ago.

“Rest assured that while the Group is expanding in new markets, we are also paying great attention to the improvement and expansion of our operations in Australia,” he said.

Laiki Bank’s general manager for Australia, Miltos Michailas, said that there was a need for a head office, especially since the bank expanded its operations and has eight more branches.

Laiki Bank House is a converted 1920s grand building on the commercial Castlereagh Street that has been refurbished to suit modern-day needs and infrastructure.

Laiki Bank (Australia) Ltd. has four branches in the Sydney area, four in Melbourne and the state of Victoria and one in Adelaide.
