BOC & GENX at record close

Bank of Cyprus shares in Greece and Cyprus roared to a new record close on Wednesday, which was instrumental in pushing the CSE GENX to a fresh closing high for the year.

BOC shares in Greece ended at EUR 4.32 or CYP 2.47 on heavy volume of 1.32 mln shares for a value of EUR 5.69 mln or CYP 3.26 mln which was more than double the total volume of CYP 1.68 mln transacted on the CSE on Wednesday.

In Cyprus, the BOC shares closed at a fresh record close of 2.42 for a daily gain of 2.11% on total volume of CYP 1.13 mln. Laiki shares were also up 2.48% at CYP 1.65, but are still lower than the previous closing high of 1.69. Hellenic Bank also edged 1.85% higher to 0.55 cent.

The CSE GENX closed at a fresh closing high of 99.59 points, and is now a whisker below the important 100 points level. The FTSE/CySE 20 index ended up 1.9% on the day at a fresh record of 507.81 points, while the CSE Main/Parallel index was also at a fresh close of 1500.94 points, for a daily gain of 1.91%.

Total volume amounted to CYP 1.68 mln on 773 trades, with 32 titles ending higher, 24 down and 120 unchanged or without any trades according to AGFN, the data provider.
