Former President of the Republic Glafcos Clerides was transferred to “Evangelistria” clinic from the Nicosia General Hospital, were he underwent angioplasty, and is expected to be discharged at the weekend.

His doctor, Iosif Kasios, told CNA that Clerides “is doing fine” and is in “good spirit”, noting that it is preferable that he stays in the clinic for a few days longer due to his age and the fact that he had a balloon dilation.

“If all goes well he will be home at the weekend,” Kasios said.

Doctors decided to carry out the angioplasty after a catheterisation showed stenosis on one of his coronary arteries.
