Turkish Cypriot coaches will be crossing the Green Line for the first time on Saturday, following an agreement reached with the EU and the Republic of Cyprus authorities.

The announcement comes after a breakdown in talks between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots in Brussels to lift Turkish Cypriot trade restrictions, which left both sides accusing the other of intransigence.

Turkish Cypriot economy minister Dervish Kemal Deniz said that ten coaches will cross the Green Line on Saturday.

The coaches will travel to the religious site Hala Sultan Tekke on the outskirts of Larnaca.

The Turkish Cypriot coach company association KAR-IS said that more coaches would be crossing in future.
