Cabinet approves Accession Treaty for Romania, Bulgaria

The Council of Ministers approved today at its weekly meeting the signing of the Accession Treaty to the European Union of Romania and Bulgaria.

Speaking after the Cabinet meeting, Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides said that both countries would join the EU as full members in January 2007.

Cyprus joined the Union in May last year along with Malta and eight countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
