The number of eggs for hatching placed in incubation in July reached 112,050 eggs for laying and 1,760,250 eggs for meat compared with the previous month.

The eggs for laying recorded a decrease of 9.67%, whereas the eggs for meat recorded an increase of 15.8%, compared with the corresponding month of the previous year.

The eggs placed in incubation for laying recorded an increase of 86.5%, whereas the eggs for meat recorded a decrease of 0.74%,

The chicks used for laying decreased to 15,310 compared with 65,070 in June, while the chicks used for meat decreased to 1,119,510 from 1,304,200 in the previous month, compared with the corresponding month of 2006.

Chicks used for laying recorded a decrease of 49% and the chicks used for meat recorded a decrease of 86 %.

 

Meat production

 

The number of animals slaughtered in June recorded a decrease for almost all kinds of animals compared with the previous month, except goats.

The total weight (meat) of every kind of meat followed the same trend. Compared with the same month of the previous year, slaughterings were as follows.

Cattle -5%, pigs -8.4%, sheep -11.4%, goats +1,7% and poultry -14.5%,

 

 Cows’ milk

 

The production of cows’ milk for July increased to 11,730 tonnes from 11,450 tonnes in the previous month. Compared with the same month of the previous year it increased by 1.7%.

The quantities of milk products for April reached 6,790 tonnes of drinking milk, 290 tones of cream, 470 tonnes of acidified milk, 40 tones of butter and 160 tonnes of cheese.
