Cyprus industrial production up 4.5% y/y in June

Industrial production in Cyprus rose by 4.5% over the year earlier in June, as the index of industrial production reached 124.3 (Base 2000=100), compared with 119 in June 2006.

For manufacturing, the index for June 2007 reached 117.6 units, recording an increase of 3.8% compared to June 2006.

Industrial production has revived in 2007, after rising by only 0.8% in 2006.

For the period January – June 2007 the index recorded an increase of 2.7% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The main sectors doing well this year have been chemicals, electrical and optical equipment, and metals
