Imports up 8.8%, exports down 9.5% in 2006

Total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other Member States) amounted to CYP 3,226.9 mln in 2006, as compared to CYP 2,966.8 mln in 2005, showing an increase of 8.8%.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other Member States) amounted to CYP 650.7 mln in 2006 compared to CYP 719.2 mln in 2005, showing a decrease of 9.5%.

The trade deficit widened substantially to CYP 2,576.2 mln in 2006 compared to CYP 2,247.6 mln in 2005.
