A delegation headed by Ayia Napa mayor Yiannis Karousos visiting the construction site of Ayia Napa Marina heralded it as an East Med ‘jewel’ and one of the most ambitious projects undertaken in Cyprus.
Ayia Napa Mayor, Karousos, described the project as "one of the most ambitious, a true gem, a unique reference point not only for Cyprus but for the entire region of the Eastern Mediterranean".
"The project is gradually being completed and already surpassed the best expectations with regard to the standards set. The construction of Ayia Napa Marina enhances our nautical tourism while upgrading the country’s tourist product, contributing decisively to attracting quality tourism throughout the year and improving seasonality. Ayia Napa Marina is a stepping stone towards realising our vision of making Ayia Napa the best tourist resort in the Mediterranean".
Stavros Caramondanis, CEO of M.M Makronisos Marina Ltd, highlighted the importance of Ayia Napa Marina in boosting nautical tourism in the eastern Mediterranean, and contribution of the project to the upgrading the Cyprus product and attracts quality tourists.
He said: “Ayia Napa Marina is a unique project, not just for Cyprus but for the whole of Europe, with innovative technology used for the construction of both the marina and other areas on the ground.”
“To date, 78% of the Ayia Napa Marina East Tower (residence) has already been sold and we are witnessing increased interest, mainly from Russian, Middle Eastern and Asian markets,” said Caramondanis.
Located between the beaches of Ayia Thekla and Makronisos, Ayia Napa Marina will offer 190 spacious luxury apartments in two impressive towers, 29 luxury villas, a marina with significant mooring capacity and world class facilities for 600 yachts, a shipyard, shops, restaurants and amenities for those living in, and visiting the marina.

Ayia Napa Marina is expected to open on schedule in the summer of 2019, according to billionaire Egyptian investor behind the project Naguib Sawiris.
In 2017, Sawiris launched the €300 mln project in partnership with Cypriot entrepreneur Stavros Caramondanis.
Construction work at the Ayia Napa Marina is moving ahead with the entire project expected to be completed in the summer of 2021, but the marina will begin operations sooner.
The project, developed by ΜΜ Makronisos Marina and contracted to Terna AE of Greece, will include commercial and residential property of 30,000 sqm and employ 800 people during the construction phase, hiring a further 200 people for its operation.
