Cambodian police has embarked on a training course in conjunction with Microsoft which authorities hope will help them identify and combat online child sex crime.

An unspecified number of Cambodian police who already possess basic IT skills will learn how to trace email and computer evidence gathering techniques, government spokesman Khieu Kanharith told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.

“The course will teach Cambodian law enforcement how to disrupt and trace sex tourism and pornography on the Internet,” Kanharith said.

Sponsored by U.S. software giant Microsoft in conjunction with the British Embassy and the British National Criminal Intelligence Service, the course kicked off as Cambodian and British officials warned that Internet child pornography was on the rise and Cambodia, with its poorly trained and equipped police force, was a prime target for Internet crime such as this.
