Only 7% of Cypriots use public transport on a regular basis

Cypriots make use of public transportation on a regular basis less often than all other Europeans, according to a Eurobarometer survey on transport which was conducted in Member States between September 9-11.

According to the survey, only 7% of respondents in Cyprus said that they use public transport almost on a regular basis, while the corresponding percentage in Greece is 19% and 16% in EU.

The survey also found that 48% of Cypriots (38% of Greeks) are `very or fairly satisfied "with the ticket price for public transport, while 16% (54% in Greece) are" fairly or very dissatisfied. "

According to the survey, 49% of Cypriots (53% of Greeks) are "fairly or very satisfied" with the services provided by public transport (62% in EU), while 51% (47% in Greece) appears to be "fairly or very dissatisfied ` (38% in EU).

Furthermore, 54% of Cypriots (58% of Greeks) are satisfied with the punctuality and reliability of public transportation, while 14% (33% in Greece) expresses dissatisfaction. In the EU, 70% of citizens are satisfied and 21% dissatisfied.

Asked about the cleanliness and maintenance of public transport means, 67% of Cypriots (55% of Greeks) are satisfied and 18% dissatisfied (38% in Greece).

35% of Cypriots said that the main reason for using transport is to go to work, school or university.
